Inflows into crypto ETPs by assets since the beginning of the year compared to 2024
Institutional investments in cryptocurrency products continue to grow. According to CoinShares, $48.67 billion flowed into crypto funds in 2025, already surpassing the total volume for all of 2024. This was reported by the company’s head of research, James Butterfill.
Record results were supported by strong inflows last week — $5.95 billion, of which $3.6 billion went to bitcoin funds. This confirms BTC’s leadership, but its market share is noticeably declining amid growing interest in ether and other assets.
Bitcoin retains leadership but loses dominance
Bitcoin-based funds attracted about $30 billion in 2025, accounting for 62% of all inflows. By comparison, last year this share reached 86%, and the total investment volume was $41.7 billion.
Despite the decline in dominance, bitcoin remains the main benchmark for institutional capital. However, ether is coming to the forefront, showing record growth.
Ether in the spotlight for investors
Interest in Ethereum has reached an all-time high. Inflows into ether funds in 2025 grew to $14.1 billion, nearly tripling last year’s result. ETH’s share of the crypto fund market increased from 11% to 29%, indicating a shift in investor focus.
Analysts link the surge in interest to expectations of new ether ETFs and the expansion of staking opportunities, which remains one of the key drivers of yield in the sector.
Solana and XRP set the pace among altcoins
Among altcoins, Solana (SOL) and XRP stand out, accounting for the majority of new investments. According to CoinShares, their annual inflows reached $2.7 billion and $1.9 billion, respectively.
Experts note that institutional players are beginning to diversify their portfolios, gradually moving beyond bitcoin and ether. At the same time, interest in other alts remains limited.
SEC decisions fuel interest
Record inflows coincided with a period of anticipation for new decisions from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on several ETF applications for altcoins.
Despite the partial suspension of the regulator’s work due to the U.S. government shutdown, issuers continue to promote products.
In early October, Grayscale Investments launched the first U.S. spot crypto fund with staking, opening a new stage in the sector’s development.
A turning point for the crypto industry
The market for investment crypto products is reaching a new level of maturity. Surpassing last year’s volumes already in October demonstrates growing institutional investor confidence in digital assets.
If the current pace continues, annual inflows could exceed $60 billion, and the share of ether and altcoin funds will continue to grow due to diversified demand.
