The new weekly Nansen report recorded significant changes in the distribution of network activity. Solana once again took first place, but the main intrigue of the week was not created by it — a sudden surge from Base changed the balance of power in the blockchain market.
Solana is first again, and the gap with other networks remains huge
Solana processed 424.7 million transactions over the week. The figure decreased by 1.7%, but this is more than enough to maintain a lead over other networks. No other blockchain even came close to such volumes.
Solana continues to dominate thanks to high throughput, low fees, and significant growth in activity in applications with large numbers of operations — from DEXs to gaming protocols and social apps.
BNB Chain is losing momentum
BNB Chain took second place with 110.2 million transactions, which is 8.2% lower than the previous week. This decline indicates weakening activity in the DeFi and gaming segments of the network.
BNB Chain’s fees also dropped significantly — by 31% at once, highlighting the overall cooling of user demand.
Base takes the stage: 102 million transactions and 20% growth
The main surprise of the week was Base — Coinbase’s Layer-2 network. It processed 102 million transactions, which is 20% higher than last week. This is the fastest growth among all tracked networks.
Base is actively developing thanks to:
- social applications and on-chain communities
- meme token activity
- inflow of stablecoins
- low fees that stimulate mass user actions
- The network has strengthened its position in third place and is gradually becoming one of the key contenders for leadership in 2026.
Tron continues to grow amid dominance in USDT settlements
Tron recorded 73 million transactions, maintaining steady growth. The network retains leadership in settlements using USDT, especially in developing countries where access to banking services is limited. Address growth in Tron reached 10%, much higher than most networks.
User activity: Solana leads, Base and Tron accelerate
By number of active addresses:
- Solana — 17.28 million (+0.6%)
- Base — steady growth of 1.3%
- Tron — +10% due to increased use of stablecoins
These data show: Solana confidently maintains a massive user core, but Base and Tron are growing their assets faster.
Fees: sharp contrast between networks
Value metrics have also changed:
- Polygon and Stellar recorded fee growth, reflecting increased activity.
- BNB Chain — the sharpest drop of the week (-31%).
Fee collections are becoming an important indicator of real network usage, especially amid a market prone to overheated speculative cycles.
What this means for the end of 2025
Current data highlight a key trend:
Solana remains the undisputed leader in performance, but it is Base that shows the fastest growth and is actively establishing itself as a new user attraction point.
If the network maintains its current pace, it could become the main driver of the Layer-2 segment in 2026, especially considering Coinbase’s support and a steady flow of new applications.
