The total value locked (TVL) in the Sui ecosystem has exceeded $2.6 billion, setting a new record and confirming the rapid growth of DeFi activity on the network. However, the SUI token price has not yet kept up with the strong fundamentals, although analysts see signs of an imminent breakout.
DeFi on Sui breaks records
According to DefiLlama, in October the total TVL on Sui increased by 12.8% in a week, reaching $2.6 billion. The main drivers were the Cetus, Bluefin, and Suilend protocols, which boosted activity and volumes.
The Sui Foundation report notes that the network’s DeFi segment grew from $250 million at the start of 2024 to $1.75 billion by the end of the year. The current figures mean growth of more than tenfold in less than two years.
This surge has strengthened Sui’s position among layer-1 blockchains and made the network a leader in stablecoin share: as of October 7, the total stablecoin capitalization on the network reached $921 million, surpassing networks like TON, Mantle, and Optimism.
Institutional funds connect to Sui
In addition to organic growth, large investors have also taken notice of the network. The CoinShares Altcoins ETF (DIME) includes SUI and other layer-1 blockchain tokens in its portfolio, giving American investors access to the sector through regulated instruments.
This strengthens trust in the project and indicates growing institutional interest in alternative networks beyond Ethereum and Solana.
Price lags, but signals remain bullish
Despite record TVL growth, the SUI price shows moderate dynamics. According to BeInCrypto Markets, the token fell by 5.7% over the month and was trading around $3.40 at the time of publication, down 2.1% in 24 hours.
However, the technical picture remains positive. Analyst CryptoPulse noted that SUI is consolidating within an ascending triangle — a pattern that often precedes growth.
The key resistance is in the $4.12–$4.45 range, and support is in the $3.18–$3.20 zone. According to experts, a short-term pullback is possible before a new impulse.
Well-known trader Michaël van de Poppe also believes that SUI ‘is preparing for a new all-time high’ if the network maintains its pace of liquidity inflows and fund interest.
What’s next?
Rapidly growing DeFi activity, strengthening stablecoin positions, and inflows of institutional funds are creating a favorable foundation for Sui. At the same time, price consolidation at local levels may be preparation for the next impulse.
If the trend continues, the market may see SUI rise above $4.5 in the coming weeks — provided that overall market activity remains high.
