Trump brought to Beijing more than ten executives from major American companies. The White House list from May 11 included, among others, Elon Musk and Tim Cook.
After reports that Jensen Huang was not among the participants, Trump, according to a source, personally contacted him and invited him to join. As a result, Huang flew to Alaska to board Air Force One there.
Nvidia confirmed that he is participating in the trip at the invitation of the president of the United States and in support of the goals of the American administration. The company also clarified that no additional details about his late joining are being disclosed.
Trump departed from Andrews base and headed to China. This is Trump’s first trip to Beijing since 2017.
A meeting with Xi Jinping is scheduled for Thursday and Friday. The agenda includes trade, the situation around Iran and Taiwan.

Before departure, Trump said he expects a long conversation with the Chinese leader. According to him, China is now trying to act more cautiously and avoid a sharp escalation. He specifically noted that oil supplies from the region are stable and there are no problems with them.
Speaking about the possible role of China in the situation with Iran, Trump stated that the United States is not counting on intermediaries. According to him, the situation is already under control, and the opponent’s military capabilities have been significantly weakened.
Taiwan is being discussed separately. The White House reported that as part of the visit, Trump will visit the Temple of Heaven and attend a state reception.
On May 11, Trump stated that he would discuss with Xi Jinping arms supplies to Taiwan, which marked a departure from the previous Six Assurances policy. On Truth Social he called China an amazing country and said he was looking forward to the visit.
Overall, the trip is accompanied by a large delegation of American business representatives and is taking place amid active political negotiations.
