MrBeast launches a crypto bank — what could go wrong?

0 Reading time: 4 min. okasks_editor

27-year-old Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, has decided to launch his own banking platform — the relevant application has already been filed for registration. According to the documents, the future service will support crypto payments.

For MrBeast this is a new stage in his career: from YouTube videos, he is moving to launching a fintech product with blockchain infrastructure. If the project is approved, he will become the first influencer in the US to bring his own banking brand to market.

MrBeast targets crypto banking

MrBeast is entering the financial market. The blogger has applied to register the brand MrBeast Financial. Under this name, he plans to launch a crypto platform supporting cards and exchanges.

According to USPTO, the documents were filed on October 13. The description lists the following features: issuing debit and credit cards, receiving and sending crypto payments, supporting decentralized exchanges, and other investment tools.

If regulators approve the launch, this will be the first case in the US where a large-scale banking project is launched by an influencer.

The application itself is currently undergoing the standard review process. The initial review is expected closer to mid-2026, and a final decision may be made by the end of the following year.

This is not MrBeast‘s first attempt to enter crypto. His previous experience was far from flawless.

The consequences of a $10 million scandal

Last fall, MrBeast found himself at the center of a crypto scandal. Well-known on-chain analyst SomaXBT claimed that the blogger could have earned over $10 million by promoting low-cap tokens.

According to the investigation, MrBeast participated in several IDO — initial token offerings on decentralized exchanges. While the coins were rising, he profited, but after he exited, almost all of these projects crashed by 90% or more. Many of them were quickly labeled as pump-and-dump schemes.

The most notable example was the SuperFarm ($SUPER) project, associated with another influencer — Elliot Trades. In March 2021, MrBeast invested $100,000 and received 1 million $SUPER tokens. After his involvement, the price soared.

In a separate investigation, analysts at Loock Advising claimed that MrBeast could have earned at least $23 million from insider deals and scam projects with developer exits.

Nevertheless, the new application suggests that MrBeast wants to step out of the shadow of experiments and move on to the formal launch of his own fintech product.

Whether MrBeast Financial will become a full-fledged banking platform or just another hype project from an influencer — time will tell. But the very fact of the application speaks of ambition: bloggers now want to rule not only YouTube, but also finance.
