The MetaMask crypto wallet plans to introduce support for prediction markets thanks to a partnership with the Polymarket platform. Users will be able to place bets on the outcome of real-world events — from elections and sports matches to corporate reports — directly from the app interface, without leaving the wallet.
MetaMask becomes the financial hub of Web3
According to MetaMask Head of Product Gala Eldar, integration with Polymarket is part of a strategy to turn the wallet from a crypto asset storage tool into a universal gateway to decentralized finance.
“Each new update expands user capabilities. Now they can trade, invest, earn income, participate in speculation, and at the same time fully control their assets,” Eldar noted.
The integration will launch by the end of the year and will cover almost all regions of the world, except the USA, UK, France, Poland, Singapore, Thailand, Australia, Belgium, Taiwan, and the Canadian province of Ontario.
Prediction markets go mainstream
The prediction markets segment is experiencing rapid growth. Activity on Polymarket surged ahead of the US elections in November 2024, when interest in betting on political events became widespread.
This week, the sector again attracted Wall Street’s attention. The owner of the New York Stock Exchange — Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) — invested $2 billion in Polymarket, valuing the platform at $9 billion. This is one of the largest investment rounds in the history of decentralized finance.
According to DefiLlama, in September trading volume on Polymarket reached $1.43 billion, while on competing platform Kalshi it was $2.74 billion, exceeding the previous record set in November last year.
MetaMask bets on ‘markets of truth’
Despite a temporary decline in activity, MetaMask is confident: prediction markets are one of the most promising areas of blockchain.
“These are, essentially, tools for seeking truth. When participants’ incentives align, such markets become self-correcting systems that bring us closer to objective reality,” Eldar emphasized.
He added that as depth and liquidity increase, such platforms become more accurate and can capture collective expectations of events better than traditional polls and analytical models.
MetaMask expands trading capabilities
Integration with Polymarket is part of a broader wallet development strategy. This week, MetaMask also introduced support for perpetual futures through a partnership with Hyperliquid.
Over the past month, trading volume on decentralized futures platforms exceeded $770 billion, and Hyperliquid holds a leading market share. However, these figures still lag behind centralized exchanges like Binance, where the interface is simpler and liquidity is higher.
MetaMask aims to close this gap by adding features typical of centralized platforms while maintaining the advantages of a self-custodial approach.
What’s next?
Collaboration with Polymarket opens the way for MetaMask into a new Web3 segment — social and prediction finance, where market participants not only trade assets but also shape collective expectations of future events.
This integration could make MetaMask not just a wallet, but a full-fledged decision-making and investment center in the decentralized economy.
