KZTg Tenge Stablecoin Launched in Telegram in Kazakhstan

0 Reading time: 10 min. Сoinspot

The first tenge stablecoin for Telegram has appeared in Kazakhstan: KZTg is pegged to the national currency one-to-one, and the Kazakhstani tenge has received a legal format for circulation in the blockchain infrastructure of the messenger for the first time.

KZTg Tenge Stablecoin Launched in Telegram in Kazakhstan

  • KZTg became the first tenge stablecoin available to Telegram users.
  • Each token is backed by tenge at a 1:1 ratio.
  • The project was launched in the regulatory sandbox of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The KZTg presentation took place in Almaty at the Central Asia Fintech Summit 2026. Independent financial analyst Andrey Chebotarev spoke about the launch of the TG Coin project. According to him, this is the first stablecoin in the national currency within Telegram in Central Asia and the first non-dollar stablecoin on the TON network.

How KZTg Works and Why the Market Needs It

The service mechanics are as simple as possible: the user tops up their balance with a bank card or transfer at the rate of 1 tenge = 1 KZTg, and can then withdraw money back into the national currency without leaving Telegram. Identification is required to access operations.

Each transaction is checked against sanctions lists and databases of politically exposed persons. The project operator is LLP “Alt coin,” and the service itself operates in the regulatory sandbox at the National Bank. This format allows financial products to be launched under the regulator’s supervision, without immediately bringing them to the mass market without testing.

The emergence of KZTg is directly related to how the global stablecoin market is structured. The distribution currently looks like this:

  • USD stablecoins: 99.76% of the market.
  • All other currencies combined: 0.24%, or about $771 million with a total volume of more than $320 billion.

What Is a Stablecoin and What Types Exist

A stablecoin is a digital asset whose value is pegged to another understandable measure: a currency, crypto asset, or a price maintenance algorithm. Its purpose is to smooth out sharp fluctuations typical for regular cryptocurrencies and make settlements more convenient: the user gets a blockchain tool, but with a more predictable price.

The main types of stablecoins differ in what backs the peg:

  • Fiat-backed: issued against reserves in regular money, as in the case of KZTg with a 1:1 tenge peg.
  • Crypto-backed: hold reserves in crypto assets, usually with a buffer in case the collateral price drops.
  • Algorithmic: try to maintain the rate through issuance and redemption rules, not through direct monetary reserves.

Stablecoins differ from regular cryptocurrencies in their purpose. Bitcoin and other volatile assets are more often bought for price growth or as a market asset, while stablecoins are used for settlements, transfers, liquidity storage, and quick transitions between instruments.

Popular Stablecoins, Buying, and Risks

The most popular stablecoins are usually called USDT, USDC, and DAI. The reliability of the market is built not only on the size of the token but also on reserve transparency, regular audits, the issuer’s reputation, and clear redemption rules.

Stablecoins can usually be bought through crypto exchanges, P2P platforms, and exchangers. In the Kazakhstani context, the Binance Kazakhstan infrastructure plays an important role, and the launch of KZTg adds another scenario—stablecoin operations in Telegram after user identification.

People try to earn on stablecoins through staking, farming, deposits, and arbitrage. But this is not risk-free income: there remains the risk of issuer default, weak backing, regulatory restrictions, technical failures, and losses on platforms where funds are placed.

The prospects for stablecoins are related to settlements, tokenization, payment hubs, and integration with banks. For Kazakhstan, this is especially noticeable: KZTg, digital tenge, tax services, and projects with Binance are forming a single line of digital finance development.

For a user from Kazakhstan, this meant a simple thing: when entering the cryptocurrency market, they most often actually bought a dollar instrument. Cryptocurrency in this scenario became not only a technology but also a way of dollarization. KZTg offers a different route—with settlements in the national currency.

For KZTg, trust in reserves remains key: the market needs not loud promises of backing, but regular public audits and an understanding of who exactly conducts them. The fact has already happened—the tenge has legally appeared on the blockchain.

The National Bank introduced comprehensive rules for digital assets from May 1, 2026. The new framework separately highlights digital financial assets, including stablecoins backed by money. The Central Asia Fintech Summit itself took place on September 11 in Almaty and brought together more than 4,000 participants from the financial and technology sectors.

Kazakhstan Is Building a Digital Financial Ecosystem

The launch of KZTg fits into Kazakhstan’s broader course toward digital finance. At Astana Finance Days 2026, the Astana ecosystem (international financial center) presented a platform for tokenizing music royalties, expanding the digital asset market, and a separate session on investments in artificial intelligence.

Digital assets became one of the cross-cutting topics of the business program. Tools operating under an AFSA license became available to participants in the Investment Tax Residency Program. Against this background, the digital tenge and stablecoins in the national currency look like parts of a single agenda: the state is testing different forms of digital money and settlements.

An important element of this structure is the international payment infrastructure. The National Bank and Binance signed a memorandum on the creation of a regional settlement hub. It is intended to service payments and operations with digital assets for clients from Central Asia, the CIS, and Eastern Europe.

The settlement hub project relies on the emergence of a new type of market participant—a first-category payment organization. Binance intends to obtain such a license. Before that, the exchange signed three memoranda at once: with the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, the National Bank, and the AIFC. The agreements covered digital assets, payment infrastructure, and investments.

The parties also agreed to explore the possibility of issuing a stablecoin. The launch of KZTg shows how this idea is moving from discussion to practical implementation. For a market where investors are used to comparing everything with the dollar, Bitcoin, and major networks like Solana, the emergence of a tenge instrument changes the focus of the conversation.

Why the Launch Matters Not Only for the Crypto Market

Kazakhstan is building infrastructure in which banks, exchanges, fintech companies, and regulators begin to work in a single system. In this logic, settlement hubs, tokenization, tax services, digital assets, and projects like KZTg are all close by. Players and partnership models are already visible on the market:

  • Intebix
  • Eurasian Bank
  • Mastercard

Against this background, the tenge stablecoin does not look like a separate experiment, but a continuation of the country’s fintech course.

A separate direction is taxes for retail investors. Binance Kazakhstan has launched automatic tax calculation for digital asset transactions: the service collects the transaction history and generates a ready document for the 2025 declaration. This lowers the barrier for users who want to work legally with digital tools.

The regulatory agenda is developing amid interest in digital money in different jurisdictions. Russia, the United States of America, and the National Bank of Ukraine have their own views on digital assets and payment infrastructure, while Kazakhstan is focusing on controlled pilots and links with financial institutions. For the domestic market, this is especially important in conditions where inflation and currency risks remain sensitive topics for private investors.

At the National Bank, the digital financial agenda is associated with a broader market transformation, and its public development is associated, among others, with Timur Suleimenov. Together with KZTg, the settlement hub, tokenization, and tax services, Kazakhstan is forming an ecosystem in which it claims the role of one of the key digital financial centers in the region.
