Satoshi era wallets have once again attracted market attention: seven old addresses, dormant for about 16.5 years, have sent a total of 350 bitcoins worth approximately $28 million.
What Are Satoshi Era Wallets
This usually refers to addresses on the Bitcoin network that hold coins mined in the earliest years, during the period associated with Satoshi Nakamoto. Important: such addresses do not necessarily belong to Satoshi himself. More often, they are linked to early miners and coins whose history is clearly visible on the blockchain.
Satoshi Nakamoto is the pseudonym associated with the launch of Bitcoin and the earliest stage of the network’s development. Therefore, movement of coins from that period is seen as a rare event: it helps analysts better understand the behavior of early market participants.
Each of the seven addresses transferred exactly 50 bitcoins. That is the amount miners received for a mined block in the first years of the network, when Bitcoin was just taking shape as a new cryptocurrency.
The coins were mined in March 2010, just over a year after the blockchain launched. At a price of about $79,850 per bitcoin, each such batch is now valued at nearly $4 million.
How Such Transfers Are Verified
Such movements are tracked through the open blockchain history: analysts look at the coin’s mining date, the early reward size of 50 bitcoins, the age of the address, and the further route of the transaction. If the address is known, it can be checked through a blockchain explorer: just find the address and verify incoming and outgoing operations.
Why the Market Noticed This
The mere fact that old coins moved does not mean their owner is preparing to sell. Price pressure could appear if the funds were sent to cryptocurrency exchanges or other platforms where it is easier to quickly exchange the asset for liquidity.
There are three important points for evaluating such transfers:
- Liquidity shows how quickly an asset can be sold at a price close to the market rate.
- The higher the liquidity, the easier it is for large players to make deals without sharp price swings.
- Liquidity affects price formation: if there are enough buys and sells, a large transfer does not necessarily put pressure on the market by itself.
Context for the Bitcoin Price
Amid the recent market recovery, the first cryptocurrency remains noticeably above key moving averages. However, momentum has weakened after attempts to break through the $81,000 mark.
The transfer of 350 bitcoins looks small compared to typical daily trading volumes. But for the blockchain, the movement of coins linked to the early period and the Satoshi Nakamoto era remains a rare historical event.
The moving average is usually used as follows:

- It shows the average price of an asset over a selected period.
- It smooths out short-term fluctuations to make the trend easier to see.
- Traders compare the current price to moving averages to assess market direction.
