The Illusion of ARB Recovery: Why the Token’s Growth Still Looks Unreliable

0 Reading time: 8 min. Сoinspot

The illusion of ARB recovery is based on the market’s strong reaction to the launch of Robinhood Chain, but this movement should be treated with great caution: the token remains in a global downtrend, and major unlocks are ahead for the market.

  • The launch of Robinhood Chain on Arbitrum Orbit infrastructure supported interest in ARB: the network showed high fees and significant trading volumes.
  • The growth looks more like a classic “buy the rumor” scheme: the new network’s revenues are not yet directed to token holders directly; this will require a separate vote.
  • In mid-September, more than 230 million ARB will enter circulation, which could increase volatility and price pressure.
  • The current upward movement still looks like a correction within a broad downward channel, not a reversal.

What Is Arbitrum and Why Is It Needed

Arbitrum is a layer-two solution for Ethereum. It helps offload the main network: some operations are processed outside the base blockchain and then transmitted to Ethereum in a more compact form via rollups.

This approach allows the network to process more transactions and reduce fees for users. For projects, it provides the opportunity to launch applications on top of Ethereum, maintaining a connection to its ecosystem but without being limited by the same speed and cost constraints.

What Drove Interest in ARB

Since the beginning of 2026, ARB on the Coinbase crypto exchange has lost almost 20%. However, the third quarter was noticeably stronger for the token: since early July, its market capitalization has nearly doubled, and the previous quarter’s decline was fully recovered.

The main driver was Robinhood Chain—a layer-two network for Ethereum launched using Arbitrum Orbit infrastructure. This project gave the market a reason to revise short-term expectations for ARB.

Arbitrum Orbit allows separate networks to be launched based on Arbitrum technologies and customized for specific tasks. In the case of Robinhood Chain, this increased attention to the ecosystem: if such launches scale up, demand for Arbitrum infrastructure could become more sustainable. But for ARB itself, the key question remains whether token holders will receive direct benefits from these revenues.

The network’s metrics really looked impressive. According to crypto experts, daily fees reached up to $3.75 million, allowing Robinhood Chain to surpass Ethereum and Coinbase in fee collections. According to CoinMarketCap, the total trading volume on decentralized exchanges in this network exceeded $47 billion in less than three months, and daily gross revenue grew almost 20 times—to $1.1 million.

Why the Rally May Be a Trap

Strong Robinhood Chain numbers do not yet mean direct benefits for ARB holders. The network’s revenues are not automatically distributed among them. To change this, a separate vote is required. Therefore, the current growth looks more like an advance given by the market based on expectations, rather than a movement backed by an already functioning cash flow.

As long as Robinhood Chain revenues are not passed directly to ARB holders, the rally should be seen as a movement on expectations, not as a confirmed reversal.

An additional risk is the upcoming unlocks. The schedule for the next token releases is as follows:

  • September 16: 92.6 million ARB, about $15 million.
  • September 23: 139 million ARB, about 1.4% of the total token supply.

This volume of new coins could significantly increase price fluctuations. If demand cannot absorb the influx of supply, pressure on ARB may quickly return.

Unlocks are not the only important factor for ARB. Other risk groups can also put pressure on the price:

  • Technical risks: vulnerabilities, bugs, and failures in smart contracts or infrastructure.
  • Regulatory risks: tightening rules for crypto projects and tokens may reduce investor interest.
  • Liquidity risks: with weak demand, large sales can move the price faster.
  • Competition among L2 solutions: if other layer-two networks grow faster, interest in ARB may weaken.

Technical Picture: Recovery Not Yet Confirmed

From a technical analysis perspective, the current upward movement is more logically viewed as a correction. The nearest target for buyers is around $0.20—this is where the first Fibonacci retracement level of 23.6% lies.

The token has already approached this zone, but buyers have not managed to secure a position above it. Therefore, another attempt to test $0.20 is possible, but a repeated approach to the level alone will not mean a trend reversal.

Several factors are currently influencing ARB’s price: interest in Robinhood Chain, expectations around possible revenue distribution, upcoming unlocks, demand for the L2 segment, and overall investor appetite for risk.

On the weekly chart, the regression price channel still points downward. This is the main argument against excessive optimism. Until ARB breaks above $0.20—or better yet, $0.25—it’s too early to talk about a full reversal.

The base scenario remains cautious: without breaking $0.20, the movement looks like a correction. A stronger scenario will only appear if the price consolidates above $0.25; a weaker scenario is renewed pressure after unlocks if demand does not absorb the new coins.

In the external environment, the following are especially important for the crypto market:

  • the dynamics of risk assets;
  • dollar liquidity;
  • oil prices.

Oil above key levels can affect inflation and interest rate expectations, and therefore indirectly influence investor appetite for volatile instruments.

The main conclusion remains restrained: ARB’s growth looks impressive only in the short term. Without consolidation above important technical levels and without a clear mechanism for passing Robinhood Chain revenues to token holders, this recovery is still too fragile.
