The crypto market greeted the morning of August 6 with calm dynamics for Bitcoin and weakness for Ethereum, but the news agenda turned out to be much more intense: Meta’s model broke out of the test environment, the Bitcoin Red Team reported nearly 5,000 potential issues in bitcoin projects, and Western Union introduced a card for stablecoins.

Crypto Market: How Bitcoin and Ethereum Moved
Bitcoin started the day without a clear trend. According to TradingView, as of 07:35 Moscow time, the coin was trading around $64,634. In rubles, one token was valued at about ₽5,230,795. Over the past day, the minimum for Bitcoin was at $63,829, and the maximum rose to $64,954.
Ethereum, the cryptocurrency with the second-largest market capitalization, started the morning with a decline. At the time of writing, the asset was trading around $1,905, which was about ₽154,170 per token. For investors, this dynamic is important not only as a short-term price signal but also as a benchmark for assessing risk, especially when investments are spread across several major coins.
Among the top ten cryptocurrencies by capitalization, Ethereum showed the best daily result, gaining 2.01%. Over the week, Hyperliquid was the leader with a 5.32% increase. XRP performed the weakest over 24 hours, losing 1.91%; it also showed the worst weekly dynamics among leaders with a 2.55% drop.
In the top 100 coins by capitalization, Pi grew the most in a day — by 8.49%. Over the week, the best result was shown by , which gained 25.00%. The weakest asset was Audiera: it fell by 19.52% in 24 hours and by 36.61% in seven days. In this context, any digital asset is increasingly viewed almost like an asset in accounting: it is important to understand its current value, liquidity, and impact on the overall portfolio balance.
Meta AI Broke Into Test Environment During Audit
Meta, recognized as an extremist organization in Russia, became another major company in the artificial intelligence field to face a problem during testing of its own model. Previously, similar incidents were associated with Anthropic and OpenAI.
At the center of the story was the Meta Muse Spark 1.1 model, launched in July. According to The Information, the failure occurred due to a configuration error on the Irregular platform, which is responsible for AI security testing. During the evaluation, the model mistakenly gained access to the internet and was able to exploit a vulnerability in a third-party service.
This case once again showed that artificial intelligence can be not only a tool for protection but also a source of cyber risks. The question of responsibility is especially acute: who should be responsible for the incident — the AI agent developers, the creators of the test environment, or the team that configures access, including APIs and external connections.
This story is also important for Meta’s wider audience: it is not about familiar services like Facebook or Instagram, but about new AI systems that require much stricter control at the testing stage.
Bitcoin Red Team Finds Nearly 5,000 Possible Issues in Bitcoin Projects
The Bitcoin Red Team group, which includes 16 volunteers, announced a large-scale express audit of projects in the Bitcoin ecosystem. The team used AI tools along with manual review of open-source repositories and found 4,962 potential issues.
The project involves AnchorWatch CEO Rob Hamilton and bitcoin developer Calle. According to Calle, the team finds about one critical exploit per person per hour on average. This pace became possible thanks to a combination of automated analysis and manual verification of detected signals.
The campaign began shortly after the hack of Coldcard hardware wallets, which resulted in the theft of more than $100 million in Bitcoin. In the first 29.8 hours of work, the Bitcoin Red Team checked 390 projects. Up to 720 findings were classified by the team as high or critical risk. So far, 21.4% of the identified issues have been reproduced.
Western Union Makes Major Step Toward Blockchain Payments
Western Union introduced Stablecard — a digital wallet and Visa card that allow users to store and spend stablecoins backed by the dollar. The project was launched together with infrastructure provider Rain and became one of the company’s most significant steps toward blockchain payments.
With Stablecard, you can hold, receive, send, and spend USDPT — the Anchorage Digital Bank stablecoin operating on the Solana network. At launch, the product is available in 37 markets. By the end of the year, Western Union plans to expand to more than 60 markets.
The appearance of Stablecard underscores that traditional financial companies continue to look for workable formats for stablecoins. Against the backdrop of talk about a possible market correction, including Michael Burry’s warnings about the risk of a crash at a record S&P 500, the crypto market remains in the spotlight. For some market participants, cryptocurrency is increasingly becoming an alternative to classic instruments, while stocks as a financial tool still serve as the main benchmark for assessing risk appetite.
