Grayscale Names 8 Cryptocurrencies to Watch Right Now

0 Reading time: 8 min. okasks_editor

Grayscale has named eight cryptocurrencies to watch right now. The list includes not just large coins, but projects with a clear role in the market: from bitcoin as digital money to networks for payments, tokenization, trading, and blockchain infrastructure.

The market has become much stricter. Investors are no longer as eager to buy into big promises and are increasingly looking at real things: whether there are users, whether the products work, whether the project earns money, and whether it has a clear place in the industry.

What the 8 Grayscale Crypto Narratives Mean

Grayscale divides these assets not by market cap, but by the ideas behind them. Sometimes it’s about money and preserving value, sometimes about payment infrastructure, and sometimes about networks on which new crypto products can be built.

1. Bitcoin (BTC) — Digital Money

Bitcoin’s story is the clearest. It is still seen as independent digital money with a limited supply. For some, it is protection against the devaluation of fiat currencies; for others, it is the main reserve asset of the entire crypto market.

Interest in BTC is supported by ETFs and companies that buy bitcoin for their reserves. It is currently trading around $62,000, about 51% below its all-time high of around $126,000.

2. Ethereum (ETH) — The World Computer

Ethereum has long been the crypto market’s workspace. DeFi services, NFT projects, and thousands of applications that use smart contracts have grown on it.

There are more competitors now, but Ethereum still holds a strong position. The network is supported by staking, upgrades, and Layer 2 solutions that help reduce fees and ease the main blockchain’s load.

Currently, ETH is priced around $1,732. This is about 65% below its all-time high of about $4,878.

3. XRP — International Payments

XRP has been associated with international transfers for many years. The project is trying to occupy a niche where banks and payment companies need fast cross-border settlements.

Regulatory clarity in the US has renewed interest in the token. Now much depends on whether Ripple and its partners can expand the real use of XRP in the payments sector.

Currently, XRP is trading around $1.09. This is about 72% below its all-time high of about $3.84.

4. Solana (SOL) — High Performance

Solana focuses on speed and low fees. That’s why the network has become a popular platform for memecoins, DeFi projects, and user Web3 applications.

Solana has had issues with outages, but interest in the ecosystem has not disappeared. New projects continue to launch, and developer activity remains high.

Currently, SOL is trading around $77, about 74% below its all-time high of $293.

5. Hyperliquid (HYPE) — On-Chain Trading 24/7

Hyperliquid stands out for already having a notable place in the decentralized derivatives market. The project is developing its own Layer 1 and focuses on trading perpetual futures and spot assets directly on-chain.

Unlike many projects, Hyperliquid already generates real revenue. Part of the fees goes to buy back HYPE, after which the tokens are removed from circulation.

Currently, HYPE is trading around $67. It is only about 13% below its all-time high of $76.70.

6. Chainlink (LINK) — Tokenization and Oracles

Chainlink is back in focus due to growing interest in tokenizing real-world assets. Banks and financial companies are increasingly testing blockchain solutions, and such systems need reliable data from the outside world.

This is where Chainlink comes in. Its infrastructure helps smart contracts get prices, market data, and other information, without which many DeFi and RWA products simply cannot function properly.

Currently, LINK is priced around $7.59. This is about 85% below its all-time high of around $53.

7. Sui (SUI) — Next-Generation Infrastructure

Sui is trying to take a place among fast next-generation blockchains. The project is betting on scalability and hopes to attract applications that need high transaction processing speeds.

The network is most often discussed in the context of games, DeFi, and high-load services. The price of SUI has dropped sharply along with the altcoin market, but interest in the project’s technology remains.

Currently, SUI is trading around $0.70. This is about 87% below its all-time high of about $5.35.

8. Avalanche (AVAX) — Mass Blockchain Customization

Avalanche is trying to attract not only regular users but also large businesses. In its ecosystem, you can launch separate blockchain networks for specific tasks without using a single shared infrastructure for everyone.

This approach suits companies, gaming projects, and financial services that need their own network rules. That’s why Avalanche is often associated with corporate blockchain use.

Currently, AVAX is trading around $6.42. This is about 95% below its all-time high of about $146.

Why Grayscale Chose These Projects

The overall point of Grayscale’s list is quite simple: the market is less and less believing in pretty stories without proof. Projects must have users, revenue, clear infrastructure, or at least a strong sector in which they can grow.

Most of these assets have fallen sharply since their 2025 highs. But Grayscale seems to be looking not just at price drops. The company highlights projects that still have a clear role in the market and a chance to return to the spotlight if the next growth phase is based not on hype but on real use.
