MegaETH, a high-performance layer-two network for Ethereum, will open its mainnet for a global stress test on Thursday, January 22, ahead of its public launch.
According to the team's announcement on X, the test aims to process 11 billion transactions in seven days. The expected sustained throughput is between 15,000 and 35,000 transactions per second.
The stress test will focus on latency-sensitive applications and will take place under consistently high load. Users will interact with gaming applications, including Stomp.gg, Smasher.fun, and Crossy Fluffle.
On the backend, the team plans to perform a mix of ETH transfers and swaps via the automated market maker version v3 on DEX Kumbaya.xyz until the total number of transactions reaches 11 billion.
“In the end, MegaETH will demonstrate the highest transaction volume in history among all EVM networks. Stress tests only make sense when they actually create discomfort. If something breaks, it will be identified and fixed,” the team said.
Shortly after the stress test, MegaETH plans to launch the public mainnet. From day one, the network will offer DeFi applications and products based on the native stablecoin USDm.
MegaETH positions itself as a real-time L2 network secured by Ethereum and focused on low-latency, high-throughput applications. The network architecture relies on stable and predictable sequencer operating costs, which the team intends to achieve with USDm.
